Annual Summer Picnic


The time for our 5th annual summer picnic is almost here! Come spend a leisurely day at local alum Peter & Jill McDonald’s (’63) idyllic farm in Wilsonville — approximately 360 acres of working hazelnut and timber farm right on the west bank of the Willamette River.

What: The Brown Club of Oregon Summer Picnic, a family-friendly afternoon of BBQ, Ultimate Frisbee, swimming and more!

When: Sunday, July 24, 2011
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Wilsonville, OR

Cost:

  • Adult: $15 at the door / $10 if you pre-register online
  • Children ages 5 – 16 (under 5 are free): $10 at the door / $5 if you pre-register online
  • Current student & Recent Grads: $10 at the door / $5 if you pre-register online
  • Family pack (up to 5 adults and children): $35 at the door / $25 if you pre-register online

Thanks to the McDonald’s generosity, we will soak up the sun while enjoying a barbeque feast, great company, and a range of activities including: swimming, tennis (please bring white shoes and your own equipment if you want to play), and frisbee. Families and kids of all ages are invited and encouraged!

There will be plenty of food and entertainment; please feel free to bring whatever games and amenities you’d bring with you to a picnic, such as blankets or your favorite camping chair. (No pets please)

3rd Annual Summer Picnic


The time for our 3rd annual summer picnic is almost here! Come spend a leisurely day at local alum Peter McDonald’s (’63) idyllic farm in Wilsonville — approximately 360 acres of working hazelnut and timber farm right on the west bank of the Willamette River.
Thanks to the McDonald’s generosity, we will soak up the sun while enjoying a barbeque feast, great company, and a range of activities including: swimming, tennis (please bring white shoes and your own equipment if you want to play!), ultimate frisbee, croquet, and free caricature portraits from alumni Naomi SegalDeitz (’74 ). Families and kids of all ages are invited and encouraged!

Holiday Party


Dear Alumni,

Join the Brown Club of Oregon as we celebrate the holidays and the New Year in the warmth of the magnificent Matarazzo family home! We hope you’ll join us for good food, good cheer and good conversation.

What: Brown Club of Oregon Holiday Party
When: Friday, January 23rd, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Harris Matarazzo’s home in SW Portland (Address to be provided upon RSVP)

We’ll have two local alumni giving a short presentation about their life passions:
Helen Spector, Sociology Major, Pembroke Class of 1967
Helen will talk about her 18 years supporting the Council for a Parliament of the Worlds’ Religions, an international interfaith movement in pursuit of a more just, sustainable and peaceful world. She’ll give is a brief history of the Parliament, beginning with the 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions held as part of the Chicago World’s Fair, the first time that leaders of eastern traditions met the leaders of western traditions.

Peter will talk about his new book, Expanding Power. His book aims to provide a practical, effective approach for helping us get more of what we want through “win/win engagement”. The principles laid out in his book aim to provide richer relationships and improved professional results while providing a contagious quality that ripples out, strengthening the fabric of goodwill in our communities. www.expandingpower.com
